Help me Update!

Hi all...

Wow im loving everyone's opinions and comments about the challenge. I really appreciate you taking the time to let me know. Its really a big help for us.

I have more questions (which will mean another prize too):

1 - Since some of you come not for the challenges because you dont have time but you come to see my creations, do you feel that I should have a separate blog for my personal creations? Would you follow from here over there?

2 - Since the themes are not always supplies you have, what themes would you like to see more of that you might always have in your stash.

For these questions I will be giving away another Full stamp set from Autumn Leaves!

...

Now from the last questions (which I will draw the winner on Friday so more people can comment) ... we will make a couple of changes here.

1 - Since some are intimidated by the winners and creations here and because I want you all to play I will be implementing another prize. Each week we will have TWO winners! One will be from our picks which will get the sponsor prize and the other will be a Random winner and the prize will be sometimes from me and sometimes from that weeks sponsor. That way everyone feels they have a chance at winning a prize and you ALL do wonderful work!! So each week we will offer TWO prizes. The top pick each week will still be the "TOP HOOT" and the random pick each week will have a separate badge when I figure out what it will be.

2 - At this time I cant change the challenge to less than weekly but I will say that in the summertime we will be trying to schedule the challenge every other week.

I wish we all had more time in the day, but life does get in the way and I totally understand!

:) :) Thanks so much for all your input, its so important to us! We love to know what you think and would love to see more!!

I actually like to see all your creations on the same blog! It does help because I'm already following so many blogs, LOL... and as for suggestions on themes to include, I do have in my stash quite a lot of stickers (flat, 3D, glitter - just name it and you'll have it). I think many of us will have them in our stash too!

No, NO, No, just one blog, we may get lost in the shuffle! Keep up the good work.

I would prefer one blog as well, and stash wise I don't have too many fancy designer papers, but have a good selection of dies, stamps etc. Have the same amount of digis and stamps. Sketches, colour themes etc. would work for me. Your doing great, but every Challenge blogs needs their rules. Blessings Hilde

I LOVE it the way it is!!! It's so inspiring to get to see your beautiful creations "while I'm here".
+ 2 prizes is so generous!! THANKS for all you and your fabulous team do!

I would prefer it to stay as one blog, and theme-wise I love the ideas you come up with. The only suggestion I have is that on a week when a specific item is required there could be an 'and/or' option, like 'use twine and/or the colour yellow' - that way the people who don't have the main item can still play along with the optional bit.

I also think you shouldn't worry about pleasing everyone every week, there will always be some themes that are more popular than others. Personally I'd rather see good interesting themes that I sometimes can't play, than boring old 'anything goes' basic challenges week after week like some other blogs do - that's not really a challenge, is it?!?

Keep up the great work Jenny!

I would prefer one blog...else I will get lost in the transition.
As for the theme, I agree with Nicki- you can always have an option with it. Like "using twine and or faux stitching".
Keeping an option like that will allow people like me to jump in with both feet. And it will give ppl with that supply to play as well. Even though that would mean you'll end up combining two challenges into one.

And I hate those, anything goes theme. Please don't do that. Its just plain old boring. There are many you can use..Monochromatic with a specific color, distressing-ink or paper, piecing, piercing, ribbons, pearls and swirls, no patterned paper, no stamps, buttons(though I don't have any, I sure can rip some of DH's shirt) I can go on!!

thanks again for asking and reading!

For me personaly it's very convenient to follow just one blog. This way I am in touch with the challanges, and the creation of everyone who participates and last but not least with your creations. So many wonderful ideas just in one blog! As far as the themes concern, I think that the sketches are best to go with what everyone has in theier stash.
Hugs, Alina

One blog is fine Jenny, else it would be too confusing. I go to your Flickr page to see your creations, which I absolutely adore.
The changes really sounds great. I would def. participate, hope the time permits.
About the themes: pls. dont keep a Challenge where we have to use 1 special product, esp. if its new. If there is any such challenge, then it would be nice, if there is an Option. Other than that...it would be nice to have any challenge( color, sketch, Occasion, paper piecing, fun, Vintage...etc ) cos its fun and it gives us chance to think outside the box too.
Thanks for giving a chance to win.

One blog is OK, you don´t need ot open a new one... I'm following many, so one more it´s not good to me :)

Thanks for offering two prizes :)

Some challenges are simple and don´t require to much stuff like sketch, CAS, colors, combine dps, tags, simple recipe...

Don't feel stressed, I think many of us want to participate, only the time is the problem :)

I think 1 blog is easier. As for the challenges, mine is just lack of enough time with a 10month and a 2.5yr old. Im working on in though :)

Jess said...

I don't mind your creations being here Jenny! I agree totally with what others have said - I follow far too many blogs already and that would just add another one to the bulging list ;)

I also agree with what others have said about diversifying the challenges for those who mightn't have a certain item in their stash... that makes it sort of an even playing field for those who don't have the cash to spring for the latest trends...

I love the fact that you guys want our opinions though, it makes your challenge blog 'ours', if that makes sense? :)

Definately one blog!!!! Love all the changes! Holiday themes work well, or colours etc. Great idea to have 2 winners too...making it more fair! Hugs x

Just the onne blog is great! Love the idea of 2 winners. I love sketch challenges, inspiration pic challenges, occasion (birthday, holiday, etc). I love the "Top Hoot" how cute!! :D Thanks Jenny!

I agree with others. One blog is fine. Nice if there's a badge on the sidebar to go directly to that week's challenge to make it easy to find. The badge is there, but not clickable. SO nice of you to add a random winner as well. LOVE THAT!

theme ideas? shapes (feature a star, circle, etc), sketch, colors, card types (bday, thinking of you, sympathy, etc). the "bingo" style on another site is fun too.

Cassie said...

I'd just keep it all on one. I love the idea of your top pick and a random pick. That is extremely generous of you and makes the playing field even for everyone. You won't please everyone, because that is just a fact, but I think your challenges are awesome even if I don't participate all the time :D

FLEUR de Lo said...

Okay, so it sounds like I'm in the minority on this one, but I love your specific challenges. I think it would just be good to have a variety of types of challenges {maybe every other one be specific}. We won't always have a stash of what you challenge, but it offers new and fresh ideas for all of us.

I'm with others on the one blog; too many already to keep track of.

I'm thrilled that I can look forward to an every other week challenge in the future. YOU ROCK!!! {And thanks for the two prize option; you are unbelievably generous in that offer.}

Emily Keaton said...

I think separating your personal posts from the challenge would be a great idea! You know, not mixing business with pleasure.

I'm often able to improvise on supplies and have no trouble skipping a week if I don't have a particular supply. You might try suggesting some alternatives for less readily available supplies (like for your twine challenge, suggest that someone could use baker's twine, hemp twine, string, embroidery floss, or even thread) to allow more folks to play. Or remind folks that "die cuts" includes punches, etc. Perhaps that will help!

Hi,
I would prefer it to stay as one blog, too. I love the idea of two winners (thank you!!).
Normally the theme for the challenges is great, the problem is when very specific stuff is necessary (for example a stamp from an specific brand) but things like buttons, twine, stamps, patterned paper, seasonal, ocassion, sentiment or color schemes are ok. I'm agree with other comments,I don't like 'anything goes' theme.
Thank you for your interest about our opinion :) (and sorry for my english u_u)

I am all about one blog (I already follow too many and sometimes things get lost in the shuffle) :) As for themes- there have been some great ideas mentioned (I went and read them) and so I echo them. and I loved the suggestion about every other one being specific but then there was another one that mentioned giving alternatives. What about possibly giving a peek ahead to the challenges- I know that with the Limelight sketch that Mandy does she gives a peek to the special focus of what's coming. That might be a good idea so that people can start thinking.

AND- if anyone needs buttons- I can send a few- heaven knows I have plenty! Seriously- if you read this and need buttons I can send out about 5-10 buttons to about 5-10 people and not miss them (probably more but don't want to go too crazy)

Jenny, I would still like to follow your work HERE on this blog....makes it easier to keep track of. I don't mind scrolling through to find the challenge post!

As for the challenges, I liked that in the last challenge (the woodland creature) you listed some suggestions for things you might use on your card. Another example would be if the challenge theme is die-cuts, do more suggesting that it can mean punches, cricut shapes, etc. Otherwise, I like variety Wee Memories challenges have!

Unknown said...

Agreeing with the majority here. One blog please. ;D

As for the challenges, everyone before me has great suggestions.

I like the idea of an alternate product, but I was thinking more along the line of an alternate that is similar to the original product. Like if twine is part of a challenge it shouldn't be a specific brand. Example: I had to search my local stores for twine the 1st time I saw a challenge and purchased an American Craft Ribbon Twine. It's really beautiful material to work with, and I like it a lot. I will admit that I eventually purchased sample packs from The Twinery as this is the twine required for a lot of the challenges I see, and its a great way to promote the material. However, I understand that making this change could be an issue if they are sponsoring the challenge. Sigh!

Love the new changes you're making.

I prefer one blog. I don't follow too many blogs and I actually like that. I like the variety of your challenges I have seen so far. It's nice that you have themes, supplies, colors, sketches, etc. rather than just one type of challenge.

Naomi said...

I like the others prefer one blog...there are so many out there already and need to narrow down how many I follow so I don't spend too much time on the computer!

Kim Ryden said...

I think it's ok to have your creations combined on this blog. No biggie!

Challenge ideas: Letters, numbers, color combos, sketches...the list could go on!

I think the votes are in, 1 blog is great, I agree, would love a link to "this weeks" challenge. I also agree you can't please everyone all the time, so don't kill yourself trying. ~Diane

Chark said...

I like it all in one blog too! I don't mind weekly challenges, but every 2 weeks would also work. I think when they run a month or whatever, that I forget about them.

Shayne said...

I don't mind if you separate the blog or not; I would probably follow both.

As for the idea of two winners, with one being random, I think that is GREAT. It will definitely increase MY chances of submitting to the challenges! Thank you for your consideration.

One blog if for no other reason than to maintain your sanity. I post everything on ONE blog - family photos, recipes, card creations, random thoughts, etc. I think if I had two blogs (or more) going, I would quickly become overwhelmed and then the "fun" of blogging would be overshadowed. But that's just me. (grin) And I do like the idea of random winners. I am getting better at submitting my card creations, but sometimes I don't have the time to get something prepared so just leaving a comment to win would be fabulous!

I like keeping everything on one blog, less surfing to do and there's a better chance I'll see it all. LOVE the new random challenge winner! I think I'll try to enter more often!

hi i think 1 blog is fine and as some of us as you said may not have certain items i think themes like colour themes, male cards, sketches, your fave item etc.etc. i hope this might help a little xx

littlen said...

i'm with the majority...one blog is fine. even if i don't do the challenges, i can still appreciate the creations.

I would keep only one blog, I have never had an issue that I didn't have a certain tool, you can always say or similar item!

I'm looking forward to some of your changes!

Eve said...

I like one blog, to keep myself updated :-) It's easier for me. If you ask me what theme, i'll say "summer/beach/ocean", just because i have more of those stamps on hand, but i know this is only my opinion, living in tropical islands for 12 years. I'm sure everybody else has more stamps for, like baby & wedding and those 2 are the ones i don't have many ...lol...

Cathy Fongjoyo said...

I would prefer it stays on one blog.it's already good the way it is :) and two prizes ? U are so generous :D love the idea.
I think colour combo challenge, one layer card challenge, CAS style would b great for all stampers.

Unknown said...

Jenny,
I concur, I think that having a separate blog would be a bad move, at some point, someone might have the time in a given week to participate in the challenge where they had not the previous weeks, I like seeing it all in one blog.

And themes that is going to be hit or miss with everyone, alternate between using techniques and product, not a whole lot you can do there, especially if you are rotating sponsors.
I think adding the second winner at random will help, just don't go too much in the digital direction, i know some like it, but for the most part I think people like winning something physical.

Thanks much for doing a great job!!

No, please keep them all in one place ... I love to see your creations when I pop over for the challenges! And it would maybe be an idea to have and extra wee line ... if you dont have X then use Y

Kathleen said...

i prefer the challenge blogs to be just that - i'd keep your personal creations separate.

as for the challenges, i like colour challenges and stash challenges, and tend to avoid sketch challenges - i always finish my card after they've closed!!!

also, limiting only 4 challenges entered will limit the enties - we all like to see how many challenges we can enter our cards into so yours will just be dropped in order to enter into all the others. Sorry - but that's the truth!

Question #1 - I dont think you need a separate blog, but perhaps a SPECIFIC DAY that the challeneg will start-like WEDNESDAY's WEEKLY CHALENGE (hey...I like the ring of that..I may use that on my Blog..LOL)so every Wednesday, we know to visit and se what the challenge is and we know we have until that following Tuesday to complete it.

Question #2
I think in terms of themes, you should keep it simple- scallops, circles, squares, ribbons, buttons, paper piecing - these items I think everyone pretty much has-they would need to make sure they incorporate these items w/in the card or Layout

Last Question:
Having 2 winners is a great idea. One is based on someone judging the card/layout based on the criteria of the requirements and one is based on pure luck. I know for myself, I enter alot of challenges and have never won. This can be frustrating for the one creating b/c you feel that you give your very best but it somehow isnt good enough. Looking at submission from others and perservering no matter what helps me to continue to submit. Thanks so much for asking and sorry for the LONG POST.

NanaConnie said...

I love seeing your creative work as an inspiration when I'm looking at the challenge information and therefore, I like only one blog. I have to agree with most of the others about challenges which might need an alternative (twine or string or floss), but I like challenges which make me do something outside my own little comfort zone. Without that, it's not really a challenge. Love the idea of two winners each time. Very generous of you! Thanks for letting us give some ideas.

Smita said...

One blog is good for me too... I can anyway not keep track of so many blogs :)
As for challenges - I'd love to see sketches, color inspirations and things that aren't too specific (crafters like me here in India are totally strapped for supplies and we all love playing along with challenges with whatever supplies we have - makes us think creatively and out-of-the box too!!).

Hugs,
Smita

I don't mind it combined, but it did take me a while to realize that this was also your personal blog. If you wanted to move your personal stuff to a new blog, I would definitely follow you, but I would say that's up to you. Although, now that I think about it, I might remember to play along with the challenge more if I didn't have to scroll around so much to find it.

Christiana said...

I actually enjoy the themes you usually come up with. I also really love color challenges, but there are a lot of other challenge blogs doing that. I don't think I would change what you're doing as far as that goes.

Nerina said...

Hi Jenny! I really like your blog being all in one - there just isn't enough time in the day to hop around the web for me!! And your challenges have been wonderful! I think you've put a lot of thought into them and I've enjoyed the diversity. I do agree that limiting a challenge to a really specific item or product can be tough - but generally, I haven't found your challenges to be that way! I hope to be up and playing again soon - life is just *very much* in the way at the mo!! Hugs!

Tasha said...

Oh a seperate challenge blog would be so much easier or on a different page. I was looking for it this week and had to go through quite a few non challenge posts to get to it. I love reading your blog but i do it at a different time to entering challenges. I like the themes you use
love tasha xx

I would like to see all your and other DT creations in one blog too. If really needed, I will head over to the DT blog and leave comment (if I have extra free time but too bad, 24 hours are just now enough!). Thus, please remain in one blog.

Well, I think once in a while, you should have an 'open challenge' or 'anything goes' theme so that we can upload what we want to make. I pretty much have stamp on birthday, baby and thanks related. Most of them are sentiment based and less images. Maybe you can consider 'sentiment only challenge'!

Two winners with one random chosen! That is great as my work is not that professional yet as I am still beginner and I guess I cannot be able to competitive with those pro here. I have another suggestion, why not have first, second and third prize winners? Isn't that better?

Really hope to see some changes soon!
